Per la maggior parte delle persone, la quotidianità è solo un peso. Una certezza da cui si ha tanta voglia di scappare. “Era il 1989 quando mio padre venne ucciso a Locri (RC), mentre tornava a casa dal lavoro. Era un funzionario di banca. Io avevo sette anni e lo aspettavo come tutte le sere. Da quel 23 ottobre non tornò mai più”.
La storia di Giovanni Tizian inizia così, nel silenzio di una tragedia irrisolta, archiviata perché, al solito, troppo ingombrante. Di lì il trasferimento in Emilia Romagna, la laurea in criminologia, la passione per il giornalismo d’inchiesta, la collaborazione con la Gazzetta di Modena e, infine, il precariato. Ventinove anni e una ricerca affannosa per recuperare, pezzo dopo pezzo, la propria storia, quello che la giustizia ha sempre taciuto, la verità.
Una verità che si estende per tutta la Penisola, che non conosce limiti, che si nasconde tra la massa e che mette tutti a tacere, dal semplice commerciante ai cosiddetti colletti bianchi. Così Giovanni decide di rompere il ghiaccio, come altri prima di lui. “Siamo venuti a Modena perché era un luogo di cui ci fidavamo. Ma da quando lavoro qui, ho scoperto che casalesi, ‘ndrangheta e Cosa nostra, operano come se fossero a casa loro. Arresti, sequestri, processi. Da Rimini a Piacenza le cosche corrono rapide di cantiere in cantiere e consolidano il loro potere. Autotrasporto, edilizia, azzardo legale e illegale, facchinaggio. Parlare di narcotraffico e di pizzo è parlare, in fondo, di una questione di ordine pubblico”.
Contro l’omertà e l’indifferenza, nasce Gotica, un libro che raccoglie tutta la sua attività di cronaca giudiziaria, insieme alle inchieste da lui realizzate per il mensile Narcomafie e Linkiesta.it. Una prima, pubblica, picconata ad un muro ben saldo, che ora minaccia di farlo tacere per sempre, con un’esplosione o una scarica di proiettili.
La storia si ripete. E la quotidianità, quella routine, di cui molti si lamentano, di colpo, ti viene tolta nuovamente. “Stavo per pranzare quando mi hanno chiamato per dirmi che ero a rischio. Per permettermi di proseguire il mio lavoro avrei avuto una protezione delle forze dell’ordine. Sul momento non ti rendi conto. Ma si creano situazioni strane. Se vado a fare la spesa mi accorgo di avere una fretta inspiegabile e non riesco a pensare alle cose che devo comprare”.
Un film già visto, se si parla del Sud. Volti increduli, invece, nelle regioni del Nord, in cui, il più delle volte, si pensa che la criminalità parli solo lingue slave, abbia la carnagione scura, o magari arrivi a bordo di un gommone, passando per il porto di Lampedusa.
Giovanni, così, ha mostrato il cancro nazionale con tutte le sue metastasi, svolgendo il suo mestiere, la sua passione, da giovane precario, rischiando per una manciata di euro ad articolo e, forse, una bella pacca sulla spalla. “Non penso che un giornalista possa cambiare il mondo, ma credo nell’utilità sociale di questo mestiere”. Lui, come tanti. Giovanni è solo un nome di una lunga lista. Pubblicisti o professionisti, poco importa. In bilico tra la vulnerabilità fisica e quella del proprio futuro. Nessun contratto, nessuna garanzia. “Di Tizian ce ne sono molti, tutti lo siamo”, urlano i colleghi, dalla piazza al web. Solidarietà, ma soprattutto voglia di un riconoscimento, per chi, pur riportando tutti i giorni pezzi di verità, vive come un fantasma nascosto dietro al titoletto confinato al lato della pagina, senza la sicurezza di quella che altri, tanto dispiaciuti, chiamano quotidianità.
